Timberlake's Drug Store
Feb. 23rd, 2009 01:35 pmI hadn't realized how much dressing in some form of a suit every day that I went to work was stifling me. I am so much happier now that I can wear my cowboy boots and roll up my sleeves and untuck my shirt. Today I got a sandwich next door at the timberlake drug store and let me tell you, that is my new favorite place. There's a hidden little cafe in the back of the drugstore, with an old school soda fountain and homemade milkshakes like leesburg restaurant has, and there are lots of sandwiches and soups--and sandwiches that I really like, that have just one or two ingredients (the kind you crave late at night). These sandwiches are the kind I got obsessed with after reading Madeline L'Engle books, because Meg and her brother Charles Wallace are always fixing tomato and oregano sanwiches or cream cheese and cucumber or bologna & pickles, simple combinations like that. Also, it's like stepping back in time, with a tiled floor and all these little old women having a snack there with their hair all fixed up perfectly for the outing. You can sit at the counter or at a table, and there is pie and deviled eggs and just diner food that I really like that makes me think of home. It's my new obsession, this place.
